I first saw this flower in Oregon and added it to my own garden some years later. It grows from corms and self propagates. In New Zealand it is considered an environmental weed. Photographed at a school near my home.

One of the flowers that gives Montaña de Oro (Mountain of Gold) State Park its name is Golden Yarrow, eriophylum confertiflorum. It was blooming in abundance during our visit last week.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II + EF180mm f/3.5L Macro USM, 1/200 @ f/6.3 I spent a few hours at the Botanic Garden in Tilden Park today and the bees were working very hard. I wish they would slow down.
We visited the Flagstaff Arboritum and had a great time. The butterflies were abundant and quite absorbed in their work, giving me a chance to get close.
