This year’s MS150 saw a much bigger field from Team Chevron. We all stopped at Crissy Field for a group shot just before we crossed the GG Bridge and on up Highway One. Click through the pic for a larger version. I’m in the back row between the towers with orange lenses in my glasses.

I had some doubts but I made it. 150 miles in two days. My generous sponsors raised $1200 to help in the fight against MS, and I gained a lot of self confidence. My thanks to all.

Even though the ride itself was a lot of work, the scenery was simply amazing. Vineyards and apple orchards abounded. Old houses, gigantic new houses, chickens and cows all in the same areas. Sonoma country is a very beautiful and interesting place. On the other hand, the roads are really rough for a bike. I need to have my dental work checked.

Just before lunch, there was a long slog up a moderate grade that was tough for me. The photographer parked himself at the top of the grade where everybody was going slow. In just a minute’s timme, I was going 40 mph down the other side . Wheeeee.

John and I passed this incredibly agile woman on a unicycle who completed 110 miles of the course. I can only imagine that some of the downhills were impossible on that bike.

Team Chevron posed for a team picture just before leaving the overnight at Sonoma Mountain Village. Sunday’s route took us back out west towards the coast and then north through the apple country of Sebastopol. Most of the team stayed the night in hotels, but John and I camped at the site and had to finish taking the tent down, so we got a late start.

Rusty Lincoln’s wife took this shot as I walk in from corralling my bike. Not feelin’ too good. After I got the tent setup and a sleeping bag rolled out, I crashed until 5am the next morning. Even the band couldn’t keep me awake.

Once again, the smile’s for the camera only. I wanted a nice picture or two. Quite likely I was happy to have made it this far and figured I could crash for a while.

Rolling inland our last rest stop was at a Coast Guard facility 11 miles out of Rohnert Park. A number of Team Chevron riders gathered together for the last section of the ride. I’m smiling but for the photo only. I was starting to get a pretty serious migrane.
