We have a large Jade plant on the front steps. It’s always been vigorous but recently began sending out little shoots that are blooming. The flower in the photo is less than 1/2 ” across the petals. Very tiny and very sweet.

We were fortunate to find a Red Tailed Hawk perched looking for a meal. He stayed atop this pole for a long while then glided out to a nearly motionless hover. He started a very slow (and quiet) descent to hopefully get a meal.

Part of pair bonding in Sandhill Cranes involves some spirited jumping. This pair allowed us to get pretty close along Woodbridge road north of Lodi.

The town of Gualala on the north coast has a Trucker’s Light Parade on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. There are two categories of entrants: Big Rigs and Pickups with Trailers. Perhaps the most interesting entry was this pickup truck and his Christmas Tree mounted flame thrower. I’m not at all sure what this means….but it can’t be good.
