I was fortunate enough to be on Treasure Island last night and was treated to a lovely display of lights and planets. The crescent Moon, Venus (above), Jupiter & Mercury (below) and all the holiday lights of San Francisco.

Down the street from our house is a residential care facility created from several single-family houses. Every year the display gets more grand. Click the image for a full-sized version.
We eat with a group of like-minded friends every Monday night. As we were leaving, I saw this and though to try out the 5D’s night time capabilities. A small amount of attention in Lightroom and it was ready. FUn stuff.
This is the first picture posted from my new camera. I think it’s going to take a while to get used to it. Tough job, but someone has to do it.
I read a post on the Fred Miranda Forums about someone who stacked teleconverters to get a full-frame view of the moon. This is this morning’s full moon taken with a 500mm + 2x +1.4x (1400mm equivalent). This is the full frame with no cropping.
On our way home from Sea Ranch, we stopped in Bodega Bay and had a great time photographing. The light gets really great just after sunset.
The light just after sunset can occasionally be really nice. We stopped at Bodega Bay on the way home from Sea Ranch and watched several egrets, white pelicans and a rather scruffy Great Blue. This is my favorite capture.
Lovely light beams as the fog rises up the hill.
