Smoke from HWY 1 uploaded by admin.

We’re staying at The Sea Ranch which is located on the coast at the uppermost part of Sonoma County. We’ve had a lot of smoke this week, likely from the fires just across the border in Mendocino County. On Wednesday, we took a tip to Ft. Bragg to visit the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden. On the way back, the smoke got very intense as we neared the town of Manchester, perhaps 20 M north of TSR. This photo would normally show a range of hills. Instead, the smoke was rolling off of the hills like fog does. This doesn’t really do it justice. Today, we woke without the smell of smoke in the air. No telling what that means but we’re grateful.

Once again, I tried for a great shot of the moon setting over the City, and once again, it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. OTOH, it’s still an awesome site.

I went out in the mid day sun to try out my new 24-105mm Canon lens. The manual said the closest focusing distance was 1.5′ but I got to perhaps 8″ away from the stamen in this shot. Cool.
