This is another shot looking up. I was drawn by the symmetry, form and the way the light was just touching the top of the building. For some reason, it reminds me of the back of a dollar bill.

“Looking up” was theme of a recent walk around downtown San Francisco. While we were in the Embarcadero Center I saw a pillar and thought to look up. This is what the camera saw.

On an early morning walk down the Embarcadero, I was surprised by a giant spider. Of course, it’s just metal sculpture, but it’s intimidating nonetheless. And, after looking at the way the photo came out, I’m thinking this is the Terminator’s spider. Ewww.

I’m participating in an online photography class. Our first assignment is to create photographs that incorporate complementary colors, colors that are across the the color wheel from each other. I happened across some backlit balloons outside a grand opening at a local eatery.

Always in search of interesting colors, I’m attracted to Icelandic Poppies this time of year. They are tremendously hardy and a wonderful target even when the wind blows.

New Year’s day brings with it the promise of a fresh start. The geometric pattern in this flower and the wayward curling petal caught my attention this morning. Happy New Year!
